Dr. Katie Alston

Board Member

Dr. Katie Brown Alston has been a member of Missionary Network, Inc. since its inception. She serves on the Board of Directors, co-chairs the Finance Ministry Council, and is a member of the Mother’s Ministry Council.   She has supported the ministry with her time, finances, energy and love.


Dr. Alston has accomplished much in the field of education and has received many honors including but not limited to graduating Magna Cum Laude from undergraduate school and with honors during her post graduate studies. She was also a member of the Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society.


She is nationally certified and licensed as a school psychologist and provided services as a teacher and psychologist for the St. Lucie School Board until her retirement. While employed, she initiated a Children of Separated and Divorced Parent Counseling Program, Approved Teen Age Parenting Program and many other viable programs benefiting the youth.


Dr. Alston has many civic and affiliations including life membership in Zeta Phi Beta, and a life membership in the NAACP. She sits on several Boards including Orange Avenue Charter School Board, Head Start Policy Council of ALPI, Eastern Advisory Council-ALPI, Chairperson (3 years) St. Lucie County Board of Adjustment, St. Lucie County Unitary School System Board (Appointment made by Honorable Adkins), and the Florida National Association of School Psychologist.


Along with her involvement with Missionary Network, Inc., she is a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, and has been the church musician for fifty years. She does extensive missionary work in the community with the Bernice Gibson Scholarship Foundation, the Abbe Jean Russell Nursing Home, Agape Day Care Center, Fort Pierce Care Center and the Aging Day Care Center.


She is the mother of two sons, Kenneth Lewis and Theodore Alston, Jr. and the grandmother of Joey and Chandler.
